From Punta Arenas, one of the Southern-most cities in the world, fly to Patriot Hills camp to acclimatize at 2,800 feet above sea level. Next fly over the continent of ice to reach the Emperor penguin grounds. After finding a suitable place to land on the ice, set up camp within 50 feet of the nesting area.
